Sami Kallio :
Sami Kallio (born 1975 in Helsinki, Finland) lives and works as a freelance designer in Gothenburg, Sweden. Kallio has said that his work combines the melancholy of the Finnish design heritage with the humour of the Swedish tradition. He graduated from the School of Design and Crafts in Gothenburg in 2005. Kallio has taken part in numerous exhibitions, and the furniture collection called The Finnish Blood In Me that was presented in Stockholm Furniture fair in 2011 caught a lot of attention.
Jakob Thau :
I wish to create products with soul, on the basis of realistic and simple ideas. I always take account of the industrial production process right from the start, without ever losing sight of the creative idea.
My aim is to create quality design in co-operation with manufacturers and suppliers. Today the industry possesses at treasure chest of knowledge regarding exciting manufacture techniques and new materials, which designers and the product industry can usefully draw upon. Applied in the right way, new industrial production techniques can help to create designer products with a strong and individual expression.
Vision
At Jakob Thau design the ambition is to create products that raises the professional, creative and production-related standards of the people around, and the driving force is a love of good craftsmanship and a desire to explore both new and familiar materials. In this way, Jakob Thau design create products that is visionary and unusual – but also traditional.
