Mencke&Vagnby, the multicultural design duo behind The Hermann Lounge Table, aren’t artists. At least on paper. They don’t have prestigious art degrees or a diploma stating that whatever they draw belongs in a museum. But what they do have is a piece of paper with the original sketch of this table, and if that isn’t considered art, well, then the art world is wrong.
The thing that makes this table stand out from whatever it stands next to is the way it does so. The three counter leaning legs under the surface intuitively seem like they could collapse any minute, but a feat of engineering makes sure that constant tension is exchanged for constant control. The play between expectation and reality is what makes the Hermann Lounge Table not just a table but a piece of art disguised as furniture.
The legs can be customized to be all black, oak, or walnut, and the tabletop comes in either plain glass or beautiful marble. The Hermann Lounge Table was built to stand with the ret of the Hermann Family, but can hold its own in any setting.
