Greyge

Greyge
GREYGE [greij] is the new design brand from Rome. For Greyge design lives in the details:every material, line and angle has a tangible relevance.Every single piece follows its own vision. All original designs are manufactured by hand in Italyand inspired by a passion for visual lightness. In 2011, the design team Kathrin Charlotte Bohr and Mauro Falomi began producingtheir own interior line while restoring a 1950's apartment in Monteverde, Roma. The idea of Greyge is rooted in a strong commitment to lightness of formand seeks to marry the suggestive force of fluctuating lines and the emotion of color. The designs take their inspiration both from architectural components found in natureand the emotional response they can generate.Sensations such as appear in an old growth forest, like rustling tree crownsor playful reflections of natural light are materialized in the designs.Thin metal bars and smoothly shaped wood are employed to conveya sense of material weightlessness.Kathrin's fascination with the lily plant inspired Calla, a pendant lightmolded from thin steel plates. Two outstretched arms ending in lily-shaped formsembrace the space with unexpected luminosity: on one side an opened calla blossomfunctions as as an indirect light source reflecting from the ceilingwhile the other shape focuses the light to the side. Transformingthe classical ceiling lamp into a charmful lighting mobile, CALLA is employableas turnable reading spot and living room light, as unconventional dining table illuminationor on free inspiration for new senses of individual interior design.TED is a table that maintains a strong devotion to the core lines and formof the Italian walnut tree, integrating the natural beauty of its wood grain intoa rounded table top with a triangular form. Three legs lift the unique shapeto harmonize the strength of the raw material with the pleasure of lightness. The chair IBSEN plays with the irony of its namesake, the idea of continuousquestioning of the rules of construction and material expectations.A surreal play with the plurality of ideas mingles the notion of grace and comfort. An extravagant harmony between different characters:an elastic ballerina and a charming poet. The designers' working experience in set design, as both director and director of photography, supports the idea of conveying a space emotionally and individually. The pieces are not conceived on paper, but molded, destroyed and rebuiltby hand until their true soul takes life and their story shines through. When the objects are placed together, their characters play off each otherin suggestive compositions with a personal perspective.GREYGE. TO FURNISH PLEASURE.
